Before ordering: identify your home model

Fireball was made with both System 1 and System 2 electronics. Evel Knievel home model 614-1000 uses System 1; Captain Fantastic home model 614-2000 and Galaxy Ranger home model 614-4000 use System 2.

Check the complete model list and compare the two board styles. These replacement sets are for the listed home models. Commercial and coin-operated Bally machines use different electronics.

If you are unsure, email your machine’s model number and clear pictures of its existing controller, connectors, and power board before ordering.

Installation and gameplay documentation

Follow the guide for your system before connecting power. Replacing the boards does not repair damaged machine wiring, failed coils or switches, or a faulty transformer.

For existing board owners

Software updates and chip exchange.

Check the latest firmware, find your installed version, and request a processor update. Standard reprogramming is free within 90 days of delivery, then $10. Advanced Exchange is $20, with no requirement to return your original chip.

Installation reminders

Switch the machine off and unplug it before working inside. Replace both original boards with the supplied controller and fused power jumper board. The existing harness connectors plug into the new boards; no extra power wire is needed.

System 1 transformer connector: Some machines have a 9-pin connector instead of a 10-pin connector. Align the yellow-wire terminal with the bottom board pin; the top board pin (pin 10) stays unused and may already be removed. The plastic keyway must line up with J2’s missing pin at position 4. When both align, the connector is correctly positioned. Do not force it.
